At E.C. Barton & Company, our story began in 1885 —and we’ve been building on that legacy for 140 years . From a single grocery store in Jonesboro, Arkansas to over 100 locations across 20 states , we’ve grown with the needs of our customers and the strength of our people. With the intention of building a new home, P.C. Barton stacked a load of lumber he had purchased behind his grocery store. As customers began to purchase the lumber he had intended to use for himself, the item was added as a sideline to the grocery store. Barton eventually sold the grocery store and incorporated his new business in 1902. Today, Barton’s is a full-service lumber division that operates in Arkansas and Southeast Missouri. The stores carry everything homeowners and professionals need to build or remodel – from the lumber to the shingles and everything in-between.
