At Lebenskleidung, they love fabrics. Fabrics that don’t just look nice and feel good to the touch, but ones that are produced fairly and sustainably—from the cotton fields, through the dyeing process, to the products’ distribution. To ensure this, all of their textiles are certified according to the guidelines of the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). Their primary goals are to promote socially responsible production, fair trade, and reasonable prices for manufacturers, and in doing so, to increase the value of the individual articles produced. And yet, sustainability isn’t everything. For them, it’s just as important that they are able to provide the newest colors and assortments—the inspiration for which comes from the various showrooms and trade shows taking place across Berlin. The entirety of the production and trade phases that a textile product goes through is referred to as the value chain, or textile chain. These are the six steps They've gathered that are especially important to their fabrics' journey.

RAW MATERIAL: The production of seeds, organic cotton farming, harvesting, and industrial ginning (separation of tufts and seeds) are the first steps in the textile value chain. find out more

Spinning: The cotton balls are broken apart, combed, cleaned, and then spun into threads in the spinning unit. The threads are then spun up on spools. find out more

Weaving/Knitting: They create knits including jersey, interlock, and sweat materials in the knitting unit. They make fabrics like satin, poplin, and crettone at the weaving unit. find out more

TEXTURAL FINISHES: It is necessary to finish an organic cotton cloth that has been knitted or woven raw. That implies a lot of work, including pre-shrinking, dying, softening, and possibly printing. Every finishing procedure has a GOTS certification and meets the strictest environmental requirements. find out more

QUALITY MONITORING: Every cloth used in Lebenskleidung goes through two physical quality checks. A final physical examination is conducted in their German laboratory and warehouse, as well as once at each production location. find out more Operations

Logistics: They will deliver the textiles you request right to customer's door at the conclusion of the textile chain. And according to their UPS service suppliers, that is carbon neutral. A new life cycle for their materials now starts in customer's clothing unit or studio.
