About (Tessile e Salute)
The Textile and Health Association was established in 2001 in Biella and has since grown to have national significance in Italy. Its core mission is to bring together various stakeholders, including businesses, consumer associations, institutions, health authorities, and research institutes, who share a common interest in designing, producing, and selling textile articles, footwear, and accessories that prioritize consumer safety.
Recognizing the importance of collaboration between public and private entities, the Textile and Health Association believes that effective solutions to address and prevent the spread of potentially harmful items in the Italian and European markets can only be achieved by working together. This collaboration aims to protect and promote the "Made in Italy" label, which signifies products manufactured in compliance with rigorous legislative frameworks and regulations, such as the REACH European Regulation that restricts the use of dangerous chemicals in textile processing.
One of the Association's concerns is the presence of imported items from countries where the use of certain substances is allowed or tolerated to a greater extent, creating potential risks to consumer health. Additionally, cases of counterfeit goods, featuring copied images and logos of famous fashion houses but offered at significantly lower prices, pose a challenge to the integrity of the market.
Italian producers also face challenges in international trade relations, experiencing difficulties in exporting their products due to protectionist legislation in many countries, while foreign producers enjoy relatively unhindered access to the Italian and European markets without stringent controls.
In response, the Textile and Health Association is committed to fostering business relationships based on reciprocity, environmental sustainability, and consumer health. It seeks to not only address unfair practices and remove dangerous products from the market but also support and promote companies that operate legally and prioritize the development and implementation of innovative and sustainable products that improve people's quality of life.
Consumer advocacy plays a vital role in this endeavor. Consumers have the power to assert their right to purchase safe items, products that respect the environment, and are produced under conditions of social fairness and worker safety. By making informed choices and demanding high standards, consumers can contribute to shaping a market that prioritizes health, sustainability, and responsible practices.
The Textile and Health Association is at the forefront of this movement, advocating for collaborative efforts, legislative reforms, and consumer empowerment to create a safer and more sustainable textile industry that benefits both consumers and producers.
