Ethibel
About (Ethibel)
Ethibel is a financial and sustainability label developed and managed by Forum Ethibel, a Belgian non-profit organization. The Ethibel label aims to identify and recognize companies that demonstrate strong environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance. It serves as a tool for socially responsible investors to make informed investment decisions based on sustainability criteria.
The Ethibel label consists of two main components:
Ethibel PIONEER: The Ethibel PIONEER label is awarded to companies that excel in terms of corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices. These companies are considered to be leaders in their respective industries and demonstrate a proactive approach to sustainable development. They meet specific criteria related to environmental impact, social responsibility, and good governance.
Ethibel EXCELLENCE: The Ethibel EXCELLENCE label is granted to companies that achieve the highest ESG performance within their industry. These companies not only meet the criteria for the Ethibel PIONEER label but also demonstrate exceptional sustainability performance in areas such as climate change, human rights, labor standards, and product safety.
To determine the eligibility for the Ethibel labels, Forum Ethibel assesses companies based on various criteria and indicators. These criteria can include environmental management systems, carbon footprint, resource efficiency, social policies, labor practices, community involvement, board diversity, and transparency in corporate governance.
The Ethibel labels help socially responsible investors identify companies that align with their sustainability goals and values. By investing in Ethibel-labeled companies, investors can support businesses that are committed to sustainable practices and contribute to positive social and environmental outcomes.
It's important to note that the Ethibel label is primarily recognized and used in Belgium and surrounding European countries. Other regions may have their own sustainability labels or certifications that serve similar purposes in identifying socially responsible investments.
