Wakefern Food

Wakefern Food is the largest retailer-owned cooperative in the nation with approximately 50 member companies that independently own and operate more than 360 supermarkets across the northeastern US. The members of the Wakefern cooperative benefit from the company's purchasing power of more than $10 billion and unmatched support services, including private label brand development, advertising support, category management, engineering services, store quality assurance and inspections, health and wellness services, marketing, retail store development, pharmacy support services, and media and public relations. The members' stores operate under the Fairway Market, ShopRite, The Fresh Grocer, Price Rite Marketplace, Gourmet Garage, and Dearborn Market banners. Wakefern was founded by eight independent grocers in 1946.
