SEEDS AND SOIL FARM

🇺🇸 United States

Why we farm: We wanted our daughter to learn a craft (farming/seed harvesting), to provide our community with the most nutritious and pure food available, to increase our food security, to enhance our local food system and to provide a connection to something larger than ourselves. On our market farm we grow: craft greens, potatoes, pumpkins, corn, tomatoes, peppers, broccoli, cauliflower, radishes, turnips, carrots, micro greens, beans, peas, herbs, cooking greens, salad greens, cut flowers and squash. We use ecosystem strategies such as mimicking nature is how we build soil and manage pests. Using bio-control herbs, flowers and plants to invite pest managers, using beneficial insects such as lacewings and nematodes, keeping our ecology in balance with interplanting, crop rotation and no till, utilizing native soil organisms and cover crops! We are producing seeds through our no till and regenerative methods. With interplanting, polycultures and no till we are saving seeds that are regionally adapted for our Alaska climate. We choose Certified Naturally Grown as a method of certification that is community based with ethics that are not just financially driven.
