We make ghee in a low stress kitchen amongst the redwoods and green pastures in the small coastal village of Arcata, California. INGREDIENTS We source only the highest quality ingredients that we can find from small and passionate producers to make our range of flavors. Butter: We source our organic cow butter from small family farms around us. We have more cows here in Humboldt County than people! We source our goat ghee from a small family farm in Washington State. We source our yak ghee from small family nomadic herders in Mongolia Cacao: We source organic wild harvested Ecuadorean Arriba Nacional cacao from a small group of people that ride a few hours on donkeys to harvest the cacao pods Honey- We source organic clover honey from GloryBee Turmeric + Ginger: We source organic turmeric and ginger from Red Ape, which works with small farmers in Indonesia Medicinal Mushrooms: We source organic mushroom powders and extracts from Nammex/Real Mushrooms. Ancient Sea Salt We have partnered with Redmond REALSALT® and their exceptional all-natural, unpolluted, unrefined 60+ trace elements laced ancient sea salt. ORIGINS OF GOLD NUGGET GHEE The idea for Gold Nugget Ghee began when our founder, Daniel Draskinis, discovered the nutritious fat in 2011 while he was exploring yoga and Ayurvedic medicine. He soon realized that ghee was such an amazing healthy fat that had so many benefits to offer, especially in its ideal state being made by hand with the highest quality organic full year pasture raised butter. After having it as a mainstay in his diet for a few years, and realizing the need to share it with others, he started Gold Nugget Ghee in 2016. At first, it was just the traditional organic ghee that was being made. Soon after realizing the power of adding wild harvested Ecuadoran cacao, Chocolate Honey was born. Now Gold Nugget Ghee offers ten flavors with a range of turmeric, chocolate, medicinal mushroom, and a diversity of animal flavors. Gold Nugget Ghee is built on the foundation principle of making only the highest quality products available on the market, and not sacrificing our sourcing, quality, and commitment to other small businesses in order to get into big box chain stores and nation wide distribution.
