Since 1855, the year the company was founded by the brothers Johann Jakob and Gabriel Elmer, we have been processing the natural fiber cotton into fabrics. The cousins ​​Heinrich and Friedrich Elmer, sons of the two founders, looked for a new location for the company in the middle of the 19th century, because in Switzerland, where they lived, all rivers were fully developed and for the use of hydropower for the mechanical production of textiles opened up.
