ALBA - Agriculture & Land-Based Training Association is a pioneering organization dedicated to creating economic opportunities for low-income field laborers by offering land-based training in organic farm management. Through their innovative programs, ALBA aims to help individuals advance their careers in agriculture or realize their dream of farm ownership. With a strong focus on empowering limited-resource farmers, particularly Mexican immigrant farmworkers, ALBA has become a beacon of hope in the Salinas Valley. At the core of ALBA's offerings are education, on-farm training, and subsidized access to land and farm equipment, all geared towards aspiring farmers over a 5-year period. This unique approach has resulted in the successful launch and incubation of over 250 organic farms, with over 90% being Latino-owned. Having already made significant progress towards their goal, ALBA is now seeking support to expand their Farmworker Opportunity Center, a vital hub for sustainable farming education.
