About BIO LATINA

We strive to meet high quality standards. This is reflected in our history, as we were the first national certifier accredited with ISO 65 . In addition, BIO LATINA is one of 30 organic certifiers approved by the Commission of the European Union of a total of 73 nominating entities and one of the three for Latin America. In the case of the United States , of the 34 international certifiers that applied for the first round of accreditation, only 4 were accepted, being BIO LATINA the only accepted certifier of the 8 Latin American certifiers that were accredited since April 29, 2002. Until 1995 there were national certifiers that with their own or institutional efforts managed to advance in the business establishment of their certification systems. These small certifiers had different levels in terms of knowledge of certification, inspection, regulations and supervision system. In 1996, these certifiers started a more coordinated work and the bases for institutional strengthening were developed. This allowed harmonizing certification systems, documentation and business criteria. However, institutional individuality was preserved through the formation of BIO LATINA as an Association of Independent National Certifiers (ACNI) to work under the same supervision and with common objectives, both business and socio-political. In 1997 it was thought to form a block of national certifiers throughout Latin America and the National Certification Association (ACN) was created, but there was no unanimity in the interests of the different certifiers. BIO LATINA was founded in 1998 as a result of the merger of four independent certification bodies: BioPacha, Inkacert, Biomuisca and CENIPAE. With the registration of BIO LATINA as a corporation, it was definitely achieved The establishment of a legally accepted quality system. Access to all major organic farming markets through accreditation. Representativeness vis-à-vis world-renowned institutions. Latin American recognition as the mainstay of national certification. In 2018 , BIO LATINA celebrates 20 years of work aimed at the well-being of the community and the environment. We are currently members of IFOAM , the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements and CERTIBIONET , the International Association of Certification and Inspection Organizations in Organic Agriculture to ensure the quality of their inspection and certification systems.
