About Jaline Resort
Jaline Resort is a brand that epitomizes the fusion of traditional craftsmanship with modern design, creating a line of resort wear that is both luxurious and sustainable. Founded by Jacqueline Lopez, the brand's mission is to celebrate and preserve the artisanal textile techniques of Oaxaca, Mexico. The inception of Jaline Resort was rooted in Lopez's fascination with the rich textile heritage of Oaxaca. During her time in Mexico, she was inspired by the intricate hand-weaving processes she encountered and envisioned a contemporary beachwear collection that would honor these time-honored methods.
The brand's journey began with a partnership with a family of weavers, primarily women, who had mastered their craft from a young age. These weavers, including master weavers Lidia and Sara, had been selling traditional huipil garments at local markets before collaborating with Lopez. Together, they have expanded their operations, growing from two to five looms and incorporating more family members into the business. This growth has not only increased production capacity but also fostered a community centered around the Jaline Resort brand.
The process of creating Jaline Resort's pieces is meticulous and deliberate. It takes three days to set up the warp on the loom, and one to two weeks to weave 30 yards of material. The complexity of the design and the variation of colors influence the preparation of each loom, which is tailored to the specifications of the garment being crafted, whether it be a dress, pant, skirt, or another piece. The finishing touches are applied by hand, with artisans knotting the yarns to create intricate macrame designs.
Once the weaving is complete, the products are sent to the brand's workshop in New York City for sewing and finishing. This bi-locational approach, from Oaxaca to New York, ensures quality control and maintains transparency throughout the production process. Jaline Resort's commitment to sustainability is evident in its no-waste policy, with everything crafted by hand and a focus on producing only what is needed.
The brand's collection is a testament to the beauty of artisan-made textiles, featuring tropical prints and a range of resort wear that effortlessly transitions from day to night. Each piece is a wearable treasure, embodying the spirit of luxury and the brand's dedication to ethical practices. Jaline Resort invites its clientele to feel a connection to the women who made their clothes, bridging the gap between consumer and creator and fostering an appreciation for the full lifecycle of the garments.
