About Eastpak

Eastpak is an American lifestyle brand that has become synonymous with quality, durability, and innovative design in the world of bags, backpacks, travel gear, and accessories. Founded in 1952 in Boston, Massachusetts, the company initially served the U.S. military by providing robust bags and packs. It was originally known as Eastern Canvas Products USA, Inc., and it wasn't until 1976 that the brand transitioned to the consumer market under the name Eastpak.

The transformation of Eastpak from a military supplier to a consumer brand was largely due to the vision of Mark Goldman, who joined the company in the mid-1970s. He introduced the first line-up of consumer bags and packs at a sportswear trade fair in Chicago in 1977, marking the beginning of a new era for the company. Throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, Eastpak claimed a significant share of the U.S. college market, particularly on the East Coast.

Innovation has been a hallmark of the Eastpak brand. In 1985, the company introduced a range of bright colors and prints to its collections, setting itself apart from the competition. Eastpak also became the first bag brand to offer a lifetime product warranty, which, for legal reasons, is limited to 30 years. This commitment to quality and customer satisfaction helped cement Eastpak's reputation as a reliable and forward-thinking brand.

Eastpak's international expansion began in Asia, with early successes in Japan, Korea, Singapore, and the Philippines. The brand made its European debut in 1986 when Frenchman Kostia Belkin began distributing Eastpak products. This expansion continued throughout various European countries, further solidifying Eastpak's presence in the global market.

The brand's product range is extensive, offering everything from the iconic Padded Pak'r backpack to innovative luggage solutions. Eastpak entered the luggage market in 1999 with the introduction of the first wheeled trolley for the consumer market. The company's designs are not only functional but also reflect a commitment to sustainability and reducing waste. High-quality materials and durable construction are key features of Eastpak products, ensuring they withstand the rigors of daily use.

Eastpak is part of the VF Corporation brand portfolio, joining other well-known brands such as JanSport, The North Face, Kipling, Lee, and Wrangler. The brand continues to inspire with its creative collaborations, artist partnerships, and support for various social causes. Eastpak's mission is to empower individuals to express themselves, challenge conventions, and make a positive impact on the world.
