Kiwa employs more than 4,300 people in more than 100 offices in more than 40 countries around the world, mainly in Europe, Asia and Latin America.The roots of entities around the world that today make up Kiwa, lie in the protection of people's health and safety by providing a high quality verification service. In many cases, this function originated from a government mandate in sectors such as gas, energy, drinking water and the safety of construction or production. The Kiwa that gives its name to the current company was founded in 1948 by Dutch drinking water companies. They wanted to safeguard the supply of drinking water in the country by examining every element that could come into contact with drinking water. In those days, KIWA (in capital letters) was an acronym for Keuringsinstituut voor WaterleidingArtikelen (Institution for the examination of articles of hydraulic works). Today, we have removed the acronym that today's Kiwa encompasses much more than drinking water experience. We are active worldwide in a large number of markets, offering a wide range of products and services.
