AIAB ITALIA

AIAB (Associazione Italiana per l'Agricoltura Biologica) is a non-profit organization and a standard owner in Italy. It was founded in 1988 and has since become a leading advocate for organic agriculture, sustainable farming practices, and the consumption of organic products in the country.

The association plays a crucial role in promoting and supporting organic agriculture by providing information, training, and certification services to farmers, consumers, and food producers. Through its certification body, Bioagricert, AIAB ensures that organic farmers and food producers adhere to the required standards.

AIAB actively engages in advocacy efforts to shape policies and regulations that support organic agriculture and sustainable food systems in Italy. It collaborates with other organizations and associations within Italy and across Europe to drive sustainable farming practices and healthy food systems.

AIAB operates through a network of regional and local chapters throughout Italy, offering support and resources to farmers and consumers interested in organic agriculture. The association also runs programs and initiatives that focus on environmental sustainability, social justice, and the promotion of healthy food systems, including sustainable tourism, education, and rural community advocacy.

AIAB Italia has a democratic and participatory ownership structure, involving its members in the decision-making process. The General Assembly, comprised of all members, convenes annually to discuss and approve strategic plans, budgets, and policies. The Executive Board, elected by the General Assembly, manages the organization's daily operations, while the Secretariat, staffed by hired professionals, carries out the day-to-day activities of AIAB Italia, including advocacy, communication, education, and technical assistance.
